We were part of a day tour from Toulouse to Carcassonne. And the castle was one of the stops we made during the tour of this lovely medieval city. The location is especially nice. The view from ramparts is worth the time and you see a panorama of the country side. In terms of the castle experience, what makes a large difference is the guide. Because it provides some fascinating insights into the history and legends associated with the castle. We were also told of a light show that takes place in the evenings. And from what i have heard, it is an even better way to experience this castle.
