The day began with a visit to Cardiff Castle, a magnificent fortress with over 2,000 years of history. As we explored the castle’s grand halls, towers, and the beautifully landscaped grounds, it was easy to get lost in the stories of Roman soldiers, Norman invaders, and the Victorian aristocracy who once called this place home. The intricate details of the Gothic Revival architecture, combined with the panoramic views from the castle’s keep, provided a deep sense of Cardiff’s rich past and its significance in Welsh history. After immersing ourselves in the history of Cardiff Castle, we headed towards Cardiff Bay, the city’s stunning waterfront area where the River Taff meets the Bristol Channel. The bay, once a bustling industrial port, has been transformed into a lively hub of restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. Walking along the waterfront, we enjoyed the fresh sea breeze and the sight of sailboats gliding across the water. A visit to the strikingly modern Wales Millennium Centre, with its iconic copper dome, added a contemporary contrast to the historic sites we had visited earlier. The combination of Cardiff’s historic castle and its vibrant, rejuvenated bay area made for a perfect day of exploration, showcasing the city’s unique blend of old and new.
