More than six hundred years ago, due to the Javanese converting to Islam, this temple was abandoned and subsequently covered by volcanic ash and tropical rainforest. It was not until the early 19th century that it was excavated by the British governor and saw the light of day again. 🎈The entire temple has 2672 reliefs and 504 Buddha statues, each of which is located in a stupa with many holes. Along the walls of the corridor, there are reliefs carved with Buddhist scriptures, from the first floor to the fourth floor, there are as many as 1460 pieces. Among them are more than 10,000 characters, depicting the suffering experienced by Sakyamuni. It represents the worldview of Buddhists: the bottom two layers belong to the desire realm, a world full of material and greed; the next four pyramid-shaped stairs represent the form realm, a state that has passed through greed but has not yet enjoyed happiness; the last three round floors represent the formless realm, a world that transcends greed and material.
