Wu Zhongcheng Mansion

Wu Zhongcheng Mansion is located in Xuejia Town, Xinbei District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, covering an area of over 1,400 square meters. It was built by Wu Guangyue, the governor of Jiangxi Province during the Qing Dynasty, and is a cultural relic protection unit in Changzhou City. Its original site is on the north side of the middle section of Maxiang, Heping South Road, in the eastern part of the old city of Changzhou. In 2002, with the approval of the Changzhou Municipal Government and the Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, it was moved from Maxiang in the urban area to Xuejia Town, Xinbei District. Wu Guangyue (1759-1832), originally named Tingxie, styled Xingyi, and nicknamed Jianlou, was a native of Changzhou. He was a Jinshi (successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) in the first year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1796) and served as the governor of Jiangxi in 1829. The governor was called "Zhongcheng" in the Qing Dynasty, so Wu's Mansion is commonly known as "Wu Zhongcheng Mansion". Now there are two signs, "Linping Academy" and "Changzhou Youth Aesthetic Education and Research Center", and a book bar and a cultural and creative coffee shop are operated.
