In the fifth year of the Huichang era of the Tang Dynasty, Daci Temple was the only Buddhist temple preserved in Chengdu at that time because it had an inscription by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, and it was also the largest Buddhist temple in Sichuan at that time.
