Baiya Tower is located at the foot of Baiya Mountain, 249 Donghu Road, Guichi District, Chizhou City, Anhui Province. It is a pavilion-style brick tower built in the 17th year of the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1538 AD). The tower is 34.3 meters high and has seven floors and six corners. The tower is built on a platform paved with bluestone, and the bottom layer is a low pedestal, with arch doors and windows on each floor. The interior structure of the floor is peculiar, and the six floors are all ring-shaped, with mesh holes in the middle, which are connected up and down. There are spiral brick steps inside the tower that can reach the top of the tower. The tower heart room is dome-shaped, and the seventh floor is equipped with a brick-wood structure. The top of the tower has a shackle, which was originally a bronze gourd shape, and is now cast iron. According to the "Chizhou Prefecture Chronicles" in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, "Baiya Mountain is located in the north of the city, and it is the main mountain in the prefecture. The winding water is winding around. It is said that the cargo ship is moored here, and the teeth are lined up to climb the ridge to level it, so it is named." In September 1982, it was announced as a county-level cultural relics protection unit. In May 2002, it was announced as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. In 2012, it was announced as a provincial cultural relics protection unit. In 2019, it was listed as the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Baiya Tower has now become one of the iconic ancient buildings in Chizhou City.
