First, the advantages: The place is easy to find, and you can see the stream not far from the visitor service center. You can play anywhere along the stream; The roads inside the scenic area are easy to walk on, and there are public restrooms; There are big trees on both sides of the stream, so you can play in the water completely in the shade, without getting sunburned or hot; Backed by the scenic area, after playing in the water, you can go hiking and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Zuiweng Pavilion and Nantian Gate along the way. If you can recite the full text of 'Zuiweng Pavilion Record,' you can enjoy free admission. Now, some points that might dissuade you: Less water. Playing in the water depends heavily on the weather. It has been sunny recently without rain, so when we went, the water was not much, just enough to cover the shoe surface. If you go during a long dry spell, there might be no water at all, making the trip in vain; The water is not clear. Many people play in the water, making it very muddy (possibly also because the stream hasn't flowed due to no rain). We didn't want to crowd upstream, so we found a spot downstream, and the water was always yellow. A bit far. It took us only 1 hour to come from Jiangbei, Nanjing. If you are in the city, it might take 1.5 hours, so it might be better to go to Yixing or Liyang. However, Langya Mountain is not primarily a spot for stream tracing and playing in the water. So many people playing in the water actually puts a lot of management pressure on the scenic area. Therefore, I personally think it's unnecessary to go there specifically to play in the water; there are more and better options in southern Anhui. Langya Mountain is beautiful and has the famous 'Zuiweng Pavilion Record' by Ouyang Xiu. Its cultural heritage is more worth appreciating.
