Conghua District (subordinate to Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province)

Conghua District, subordinate to Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northeast of Guangzhou. It borders Zengcheng District and Longmen County of Huizhou City to the east, Baiyun District and Huangpu District to the south, Huadu District and Qingyuan City to the west, and Fogang County of Qingyuan City and Xinfeng County of Shaoguan City to the north. The Tropic of Cancer crosses the southern end of Taiping Town within the district, resulting in a mild climate and abundant rainfall. The total area is 1985 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Conghua District administers 3 subdistricts and 5 towns. The People's Government of Conghua District is located at 99 Xincheng East Road, Jiekou Subdistrict. By the end of 2023, the total registered population of Conghua District was 662,200, with a permanent population of 732,600. Following the Ming Dynasty system, Conghua County was under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Prefecture. In January 1959, it was transferred to the Foshan Commissioner's Office. On February 12, 2014, the county-level Conghua City was abolished, and Conghua District of Guangzhou City was established, with the administrative region of the former Conghua City as the administrative region of Conghua District. Conghua District is famous for its rare hot springs and is known as the "Capital of Hot Springs in China". It is also known as the "Pearl on the Tropic of Cancer" and the "Back Garden of Guangzhou". There are more than 100 lakes and reservoirs, 120,000 hectares of green mountains, and a forest coverage rate of 67.2%. There are nearly 20 tourist attractions within the district, including national 4A and 3A tourist attractions such as Bishuiwan Hot Spring Resort and Guangzhou Pumped Storage Power Station Tourist Resort, as well as four key ecological tourism areas in Guangzhou, including Liuxi River National Forest Park, Shimen National Forest Park, Liuxi Hot Spring Tourist Resort, and Pumped Storage Power Station Tourist Area. Additionally, there are national and provincial key cultural relic protection units such as Guangyu Ancestral Hall and Wuyue Temple, as well as cultural landscapes such as the Neolithic Lvtian Shixiangyan Habitat Site, numerous ancient village relics from the Ming Dynasty, and the world's tallest Tropic of Cancer marker tower. In 2023, Conghua District achieved a regional GDP of 42.448 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year.
