Haixi Prefecture Dachaidan Emerald Lake

Dachaidan Emerald Lake, located in Dachaidan Town, Dachaidan Administrative Region, Haixi Mongolian Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is a unique salt lake landscape of Dachaidan, belonging to the sub-type of magnesium sulfate salt lake, with an area of 15 square kilometers. The salt lake is composed of halides (water) and minerals (crystals) after the development of mineral resources in the mining area. Emerald Lake is a sub-type of magnesium sulfate salt lake, originally the mining area of the salt lake mining team of the chemical plant, and is the third largest artificial lake in Haixi Prefecture. Due to the high salt content in the lake, it does not freeze all year round. The lake is rich in various elements such as potassium, magnesium, lithium, etc. with different concentrations, so it presents different colors. The Emerald Lake is clear and transparent, and through the water surface, you can clearly see the salt layer at the bottom of the lake. The inner layer of Emerald Lake is blue, the outer layer is milky blue, and through the water surface, you can clearly see the salt layer at the bottom of the lake. In August 2023, Dachaidan Emerald Lake Scenic Area was determined to be a national AAAA level tourist scenic area.
