Entering the ancient city, the first thing that catches your eye is the towering city wall, thick and solid, witnessing the changes of history. The beacon towers on the city wall seem to be still guarding the distant horizon, reminding me of the city's past glory. Cultural fusion⛩️ Datong is a place where cultures blend. Here, I saw the perfect combination of Buddhist art from the Northern Wei Dynasty and architectural styles from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Entering the Yungang Grottoes, the stone Buddha statues are lifelike, reflecting a high level of artistry. Each Buddha statue has its own unique expression, as if talking to me, making me feel the peace and solemnity. On the streets of the ancient city, I also met a craftsman who was making traditional pottery. Looking at his focused expression, I couldn't help but think about the collision between modernity and tradition. In this fast-paced era, traditional crafts seem to be somewhat scarce, but in Datong, these crafts are still being passed down, which is the charm of "Big differences in Datong". Temptation of food👍 At lunchtime, I tasted the local specialties - knife-cut noodles and Datong mutton. The knife-cut noodles are chewy and smooth, paired with a rich broth, making me eat one bite after another, unable to stop. The Datong mutton is tender and delicious, with a fragrant aroma, leaving me with a lingering aftertaste. Sunset in the evening🌇 In the evening, I came to the observation deck of Datong Ancient City and looked down at the entire city. The sunset dyed the sky red, and the ancient city appeared particularly charming in the golden light.
