During the Warring States Period, King Wuling of Zhao implemented the policy of "wearing Hu-style clothes and shooting on horseback" here. Zhu Yuanzhang sent Xu Da to expand it into a brick city. Local specialties are recommended - Sliced noodles: The noodles are thick in the middle and thin on both sides, resembling willow leaves. There are many types of gravy. - Old Datong assorted hot pot: A copper hot pot is used as a container, with rich ingredients and a combination of meat and vegetables. The production method has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage. - Old Datong fried pork: The main ingredient is pork tenderloin, with a golden and bright color, salty and fresh taste, soft on the outside and tender on the inside. - Fengpawo: The main ingredient is a whole chick, with a red and bright color, crispy and fragrant chicken, and a dish that can be eaten in two ways, with tender meat and fragrant eggs. - Braised mutton: The meat is tender, the taste is fresh, and the soup is mellow. Adding Huangqi from Hunyuan makes it more healthful. Recommended attractions - Day 1: Arrive at Datong Huayan Temple at 15:00 and check in to a homestay. Ride a bike on the ancient city wall and watch the sunset at 18:00. Visit Huayan Temple Snack Street and Panjiayuan at 19:00. - Day 2: Visit Huayan Temple in the morning, which is a temple complex of the Liao and Jin Dynasties.
