A Pool in the Sky

The first destination in Urumqi is always the Tianchi (Heavenly Lake) in the Tianshan Mountains. Tianchi is about 50 kilometers from Urumqi city. Self-driving visitors need to park their cars in the parking lot and transfer to the scenic area bus to enter Tianchi. The scenic area bus usually takes about forty to fifty minutes from the main gate to the Tianchi scenic spot, which is a relatively long time, so visitors need to allocate sufficient time. Tianchi's water comes from the clear snow water of the Tianshan Mountains. Under the blue sky, Tianchi looks like a transparent emerald embedded deep in the Tianshan Mountains, with beautiful scenery. From the Tianchi scenic spot, visitors can continue to climb higher, first by cable car and then on foot, reaching an altitude of about 3,000 meters. Overlooking Tianchi from this height offers a different view. The last bus from the Tianchi scenic spot to the main gate of the scenic area ends at 9:30 pm, so pay attention to the return time.
