Gaoyou Lake: Chinas sixth largest lake

Gaoyou Lake, also called Zhu Lake or Biwa Lake, is located in Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province. The city belongs to Yangzhou and it's not a very touristic place. It's nice to get to know the less travelled China. It is the sixth largest freshwater lake in China, and third largest in Jiangsu. There are also wild wader birds such as ducks. The other side of the lake already belongs to Anhui province. You can ride a shared scooter around the lake. At least the part close to Gaoyou city. Some locals also take you on their boat for a ride. ☕ The pictures were taken from the rooftop of the small coffee. You will see it, it's close to the visitors center at the lake. 🍤 Local restaurants serve a lot of seafood or fish from the lake. Gaoyous salted duck eggs are popular around whole China. 🏴 You can arrive in Gaoyou by train or bus. To the lake you have to take a cab, local bus or shared bike. 🌤️ Best season is spring or autumn.
