#summerdestinations This summer, I had the pleasure of visiting Eldena Abbey in Greifswald, Germany, and it was a captivating experience! 🏰🌳 Located just a few kilometers from the town center, this medieval Cistercian monastery is steeped in history and surrounded by picturesque landscapes. The entrance fee is a modest €3, which is well worth it to explore the serene ruins and beautiful gardens. Walking through the ancient stone arches and tranquil cloisters, I could feel the weight of centuries of history. The abbey's peaceful atmosphere made it easy to imagine the monks' lives there. The highlight was the iconic Gothic architecture and the lush greenery that has partially reclaimed the site, creating a unique blend of nature and history. Nearby, you can visit the charming town of Greifswald, with its vibrant university atmosphere, historic market square, and lovely harbor. A short drive away is the stunning island of Rügen, offering beautiful beaches and dramatic cliffs.
