Guangzhou's Statue of Liberty is located in the Huanghuagang 72 Martyrs Cemetery, also known as Huanghuagang Park. It was built to commemorate the martyrs who died in the 1911 Guangzhou Uprising. The Statue of Liberty stands tall at the top of the 72 Martyrs Memorial Archway. At the foot of the statue are 72 huge stones, symbolizing the 72 martyrs who died heroically.
