Xian Family Memorial Archway in Cai Village, Guiping, Guangxi.

The Xian Family Memorial Archway is located on the bank of the Cai River in Jintian Town, Guiping City. The mother of the Xian family was virtuous and chaste, and raised six sons. She lived to be 100 years old and was honored for her virtue in the 4th year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1799 AD). In the 7th year of the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1827 AD), the six sons of the Xian family built the "Gate of Chastity and Longevity" memorial archway to repay their mother's kindness. The archway faces south and covers an area of 200 square meters. It is 9.14 meters high and 9 meters wide. It is made of granite and has three rooms and four pillars. The decorations on the front and back of the archway are the same. There are three characters in the middle room. The characters "Imperial Edict", "Imperial Edict Stone", and "Gate of Chastity and Longevity" are carved from top to bottom. The characters "Imperial Edict" and "Imperial Edict Stone" are decorated with male and female statues on the left and right. The left and right rooms are engraved with the names of descendants, meritorious deeds, and prefaces. The top of the archway is decorated with gourds, turtles, and lions. The connection between the stone pillars and the beams in the middle room is equipped with sparrows, and there are stone clamps in front and behind each stone pillar. The entire archway is solemn in shape, exquisitely carved, and the carved statues are lifelike, with high cultural relic value and ornamental value. The Xian Family Memorial Archway is the most complete memorial archway preserved in Guiping, which provides important physical materials for understanding and studying feudal etiquette and the characteristics of memorial archway architecture. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Guiping City.
