Lingyin Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The Majestic LingYin Temple
#freehotelstay
When you're in Hangzhou, don't miss out on Ling Yi Temple, also known as the Temple of Soul's Retreat, situated northwest of the West Lake. This temple holds a special place as one of China's most significant Buddhist temples and a hub for exploring Chinese Buddhist culture.
Legend has it that this temple was founded by Huili, an Indian monk, during the Jin Dynasty (317-420 AD), and it gained prominence during the Five Dynasties when it underwent significant expansion under royal patronage as a mark of reverence to Buddha.
Throughout its history, Lingyin Temple has weathered various challenges like wars and religious suppression. Yet, it remains a treasure trove of Buddhist literature and other precious artifacts. Among its highlights is a tablet inscribed by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), which visitors can still admire today.
The temple houses a towering statue of Sakyamuni carved from 24 sections of camphor wood, standing at an impressive height of 24.8 meters (82 feet) and adorned with gold leaf. Flanking the statue are twenty saintly figures, believed to be guardians of justice, while twelve disciples stand guard along the rear wall. Their imposing presence leaves a lasting impression on all who behold them.
You'll be amazed by all the incredible sights waiting for you at this temple—it's practically made for Instagram!

The large-scale song and dance "Song City Eternal Love" has been called a must-see performance for a lifetime. It is the soul of Hangzhou Songcheng Scenic Spot. It is also known as the "World's Three Famous Shows" with the "O" show in Las Vegas and the Moulin Rouge in Paris. .
The swan song, the silk, tea and smoke rain Jiangnan performance to the fullest, bring the audience visual experience and soul shock.
Today, the performances of ancient times have spread all over the country. There are already Sanya, Lijiang and Jiuzhai. Next, there will be Shanghai, Xi'an and other places all over the country, and there will be performances with local characteristics.
Since the Song Dynastys performances, I basically watched 1-2 times a year. This is a good time in my history.
Hangzhou Songcheng citywalk guide is so much fun here
Have you ever played the game with real-life NPCs? Come to Songcheng for a time-travel experience during the May Day holiday, 'I Return to the Great Song Dynasty: Heroes Assemble'. During the stamp collection process, NPCs will assign tasks, and once completed, you can get a stamp. There's also a hidden task with a muscular hunk 💪, which offers a strong sense of participation ☘...
Recommended gameplay: Collect 4 stamps to enter the lottery once, 8 stamps for two entries, and 10 stamps to exchange for the first prize 🍤
Songcheng is really suitable for the whole family to play together, suitable for all ages, as if you've traveled back to the Song Dynasty in a second. Don't miss out on various performances when you're here ✌...
Performance recommendations🥨:
Highly recommend 'Songcheng Eternal Love' 💥, a visual feast that starts with the Liangzhu culture and moves on to the grand song and dance of the Great Song Dynasty, ending with the legend of Xi Shi, an hour is not enough to see it all 💫...
You can sign up on the spot to participate in the real-life drama 'The Great Earthquake', which offers a full interactive experience. There are also interactive performances like 'Heroes of the Great Song Dynasty Walking the Streets', 'Recruitment of Yue Family Army', and so on. You can play for half a day without repetition, very interesting 🍾...
Theme venue recommendations🍳:
Don't miss out on the 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' movie hall, the interactive light and shadow fantasy space, and more 🙈...
Recommended playtime: 3-4h
There are many indoor scenes here, where you can stay cool and play with water, making it perfectly okay to visit even on hot days ✌...

Xixi Wetland's plum blossoms are in full bloom! I experienced the unique 'Meandering Water Plum Quest' at Xixi Wetland. If you want to experience the charm of the Jiangnan region, don't miss this place.
The plum trees in Xixi Wetland are mostly planted along the streams and are famous for their weeping plums, which, like the willows by the lake, can bend down to touch the water surface. This creates the unique plum viewing method of Xixi - 'Meandering Water Plum Quest'.
There are two ways to explore the plums in Xixi Wetland:
1. Water route: Take a boat along the waterway deep into the plum forest. You can charter a boat for 100 RMB per hour, with a boatman rowing. You can drink tea on the boat and relax; or you can take an electric boat for 60 RMB per person, which allows you to get on and off repeatedly to visit different spots.
2. On foot: From Zhoujia Village entrance - Meizhu Mountain Villa - Xixi Plum Villa - Jiaolu Tianzhuang - Gaozhuang - Hezhu Street - Jiangcun Market, the whole journey takes about 4 hours.
Best spots for plum viewing in Xixi:
1. Meilin Road
2. Xixi Plum Villa
3. Meizhu Mountain Villa
Transportation:
1. Drive to 'Zhoujia Village Parking Lot', parking fee is 5 RMB per hour
2. Take Metro Line 3 to Xixi Wetland South A Exit
Ticket: Adult ticket: 80 RMB per person, free with Zhejiang Cultural Tourism Card
