The most bustling ancient street in Hangzhou

Nansong Imperial Street is a major street laid out in the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, Lin'an. The street starts from the south at the north gate of the imperial city, Hening Gate (now the intersection of Wansongling and Fenghuangshan Road), passes through Chaotian Gate (now Drum Tower), Zhongshan Middle Road, Zhongshan North Road, Guanqiao (now Guanqiao) to the intersection of Fengqi Road and Wulin Road. It is the central axis of Lin'an City in the Southern Song Dynasty, with a total length of about 4185 meters. It was the exclusive road for the emperor to worship his ancestors at Jingling Palace (now on the west side of Wulin Road, a place where the statues of the royal ancestors were enshrined) during the 'Four Meng' (Mengchun, Mengxia, Mengqiu, Mengdong).
