Modern Hotel

The Modern Hotel was established in 1906, located on Central Avenue in Daoli District, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The hotel was magnificent and bustling at the time. 'Modern' in Russian means fashionable. In 1934, it was brutally destroyed by the Japanese puppet army and began to decline. In 1946, after the liberation of Harbin, the Modern was converted into the reception office of the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and its name was changed several times. In 1987, the original name of Modern was restored. On December 2, 2017, it was selected as the 'Second Batch of 20th Century Architectural Heritage in China'.
