Saint Sophia Cathedral is located at No. 88, Toulong Street, Daoli District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China. It is one of the landmark buildings in Harbin City and a Byzantine-style Orthodox church built in March 1907. The church adopts a Greek cross plan layout. From a bird's-eye view, it presents a structure where a central dome intersects with four corridors in the shape of the Greek letter "Ji". The church covers an area of 721 square meters, and the main tower is 53.35 meters high. It is an important landmark in Harbin City. The exterior walls of the church are decorated with granite and marble, showing solemn and gorgeous features. The architectural style of the church is Byzantine, fully embodying the essence of Byzantine art. The exterior wall design emphasizes symmetry and decoration. The stone carving patterns are dense and exquisite, full of strong Byzantine style. The main tower of the church adopts a broken tip shape, and the top is covered with a golden dome, emitting a shining light. Saint Sophia Cathedral was built in March 1907 and was completed on November 25, 1932. During the Cultural Revolution, Saint Sophia Cathedral was damaged. With the development of Harbin, the church was gradually surrounded by commercial residential buildings. In 1996, Saint Sophia Cathedral was recognized as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the state.
