2024 Hong Kong Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in October)
Known for being a world-class center of business, culture, and trade, Hong Kong is a jewel in the orient with international flairs. Its iconic skyline, dynamic food scene and multicultural influences attract over 65 million tourists each year. For many, Hong Kong is also a starting point for visiting China and the rest of Asia.Officially the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong is located on the south coast of China, neighboring Guangzhou Province. It is made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories (including more than 250 outlying islands). Ranked as the 8th most densely populated city in the world, Hong Kong’s population is made up of mainly Chinese residents. But it is also an international hub of commerce where English and Cantonese are the official languages.Hong Kong wouldn’t be what it is today without its complex past. Though it has existed for thousands of years, in as little as 100 years, Hong Kong went through dramatic transformations from a fishing community in China to a British colony to an international trade center, and eventually back to being part of China again.Like its dense population, Hong Kong has also packed in a tremendous amount of attractions. For example, you can visit one of the city's oldest temples, Man Mo Temple; ride on the Peak Tram for a bird’s eye view of Victoria Harbor; or immerse yourself in the electric atmosphere of Temple Street Night Market. Beyond the urban hustle and bustle, there’s a serene side to Hong Kong. Chill out on the beach in the Sai Kung East Country Park, enjoy a challenging hike on Lantau island’s many trekking trails, or do a little wildlife spotting in Plover Cove Country Park. The most common way to reach Hong Kong is by air. The Hong Kong International Airport has connecting flights to all major domestic and international cities. Visitors can easily find transfer options into different parts of HK, such as taxis, Airport Express trains, and buses. Some hotels offer transfer options too, so it is better to check in advance. Getting around town is also simple and convenient. Visitors can easily reach top attractions by using the extensive and affordable MRT, bus and tram systems.

Hong Kong's First Store Opening! Essential Oil Expert from Shenzhen
Since discovering the properties and versatility of essential oils, I've fallen in love with using them. Just in time, the essential oil brand Dr.Wong from Shenzhen has opened its first store in Eslite, and they've specially created a scent representing Hong Kong for this occasion. So, I went to check it out on the opening day.
The store is quite spacious, divided into areas for essential oils, facial and body care, and even a DIY fragrance area where you can choose your favorite scents and blend them with base oils to create your own portable roll-on oil. 😆
Among the many scents, I like the "Honeysuckle" scent the most. The "Honeysuckle Spring" blend, made with honeysuckle, has a multi-layered yet gentle aroma. The honeysuckle's fragrance pairs well with the cedarwood base, with a hint of citrus sweetness. ☺
In addition to essential oil products, their diffusers are also unique. For example, the cute little singing bowls and cold diffusers are different from typical diffuser products, making them great gift options.

Enjoy Adorable Kuromi Limited Edition Pancakes at Central Cafe.
Gathered with friends at this coffee & pancake shop, of course, because they are having a limited-time collaboration with Kuromi until December 31st. The restaurant's decor and food are all themed around Kuromi and Baku, perfect for fans to take photos and get likes. The Central branch is even the flagship store for this collaboration.
Kuromi Blueberry Greek Yogurt Soufflé $175
The soufflé is incredibly airy, with a soft and fluffy texture. The highlight is definitely the Kuromi-shaped blueberry Greek yogurt, which looks amazing. The Greek yogurt is smooth, and the blueberry flavor is rich, perfect for spreading on the soufflé. You can also enjoy it with strawberries, blueberries, nuts, and other toppings.
Sharing All-Day Breakfast with Baku $142
The all-day breakfast is very rich, including bacon, sunny-side-up eggs, sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, smoked salmon, salad greens, and of course, Baku-shaped pancakes. The pancakes have a chewy texture, and they taste even better with syrup.
Kuromi Fig and Blueberry Smoothie $72
This smoothie is made with figs and blueberries, offering a refreshing and cooling taste. It also comes with a Kuromi-shaped chocolate plaque on top.
Kuromi Purple Sweet Potato Coffee $52
This purple sweet potato coffee has a sweet potato base, a middle layer of fresh milk latte, and a Kuromi design on top. The layered colors are very eye-catching. The sweetness is just right, and the coffee flavor is rich.
Both themed drinks come with a random Kuromi coaster.

Tian Tan Buddha ⭐️ Iconic Big Buddha in Ngong Ping 🇭🇰
#100waysoftravel
The Big Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong. If you have watched the famous Hong Kong movie “Infernal Affairs”, you may recognise this iconic place as HK best “fengshui” place🤣
The majestic outdoor bronze Buddha was cast with 250 tonnes of bronze and built over 12 years. You will need to climb the 258 steps to the top if you want to approach it nearer. There is an exhibition inside with air conditioning. The view is stunning from the top too!
I think this is one of the best places to visit in Hong Kong. It’s accessible via the Ngong Ping cable car or bus.

The only place in Hong Kong where I can eat my fill of oysters...
Others go to bars, but I'm different. I go to the oyster bar 🦪. They've won the oyster shucking championship several times and are open until midnight.
It turns out that oysters from different places really do have different flavors‼️ They're all sourced directly, so they're cheap and fresh✔️ Only 30+ per oyster!!
🌊Westcott Pacific oysters, creamy, average flavor, delicious with a hint of the salty sea. You know the taste of the sea!
🇦🇺Coffin Bay (Australia) oysters, very full, firm, slightly salty, with a cucumber aftertaste
🇿🇦Namibia (South Africa) oysters have a unique taste that you won't forget. They're the sweetest of the three!

🦐There's also a Japanese sesame shrimp salad, which is refreshing🥩The top-grade Angus ribeye steak from the US is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and very juicy🍝The black truffle crab pasta is really delicious. Every noodle is covered in a rich sauce with a special aroma🤤

🇭🇰 Perfect Cantonese Wonton Bamboo Noodles 📍Chee Kei, Tsim Sha Tsui🇭🇰
During my stay in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, I visited Chee Kei, a well-known restaurant chain famous for its Cantonese wonton noodles, on two occasions. The restaurant is often lauded for its authentic, delicious food at affordable prices. A standout dish is their wonton noodle soup, featuring perfectly cooked noodles and shrimp wontons in a flavorful, savory broth. On my first visit, I opted for the lunch set, which included fresh shrimp wonton bamboo noodles, a braised soft-boiled egg with Chu Hou sauce, and hot coffee, all for $67. On my second visit, I ordered the pork dumpling bamboo noodles, braised mushrooms in oyster sauce, and hot milk tea for $57. Chee Kei’s bamboo noodles are handmade locally using the traditional "jok sing" method, giving them a distinctive texture and taste.

How I Enjoyed a First-Class Experience in Hong Kong Airport!
I had a top-notch experience at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Hong Kong. The seating was super comfy, letting me kick back before my flight. I chowed down on a spread of delicious eats, from Asian bites to classic Pasta, and sipped on some complimentary drinks. The lounge vibe was chill, perfect for unwinding. An Outdoor Adventure at Plover Cove Reservoir
Among the many outdoor destinations in Hong Kong, Plover Cove Reservoir is undoubtedly a must-visit. Not only does it boast spectacular reservoir views, but it also offers a variety of trails and activities that allow people to get close to nature and enjoy the outdoors.
🔆How to Get There
Getting to Plover Cove Reservoir is quite convenient. You can exit from C2 at Diamond Hill MTR Station and take bus 92. Another option is to exit from B1 at Hang Hau MTR Station and take minibus 101M to Sai Kung Town Center. From there, take a taxi to the East Dam of Plover Cove Reservoir, making it easy and convenient to reach your destination.
🔆The Spectacular Reservoir
Upon arriving at the main viewing point of the reservoir, the scenery before us was breathtaking. The vast water surface sparkled under the sunlight, surrounded by mountains, creating a picturesque natural landscape.
🔆Reflecting on the Journey
As we headed back after a day of adventure, we reflected on the experience, and everyone agreed that the trip to Plover Cove Reservoir was well worth it. The natural beauty and trail challenges provided a moment of peace and relaxation amidst our busy lives.
If you enjoy outdoor activities, Plover Cove Reservoir is definitely an ideal choice. Whether hiking or simply enjoying nature, this place offers a wonderful experience and precious memories.
Exploring Pineapple Mountain: Discover Hong Kong's Grand Canyon
In the bustling city of Hong Kong, Pineapple Mountain has become an ideal destination for many outdoor enthusiasts due to its spectacular natural scenery and hidden trails. Recently, my friends and I visited this place, known as the 'Hong Kong Grand Canyon,' and had an unforgettable day of outdoor activities.
🔆 Hiking Route
We started from Leung King Estate and walked for about ten minutes along a wide concrete road to reach the entrance of Pineapple Mountain. The fresh air made us feel incredibly relaxed, and as we gradually ascended, the surrounding scenery became more and more magnificent, making us feel as if we were embraced by nature.
🔆 The Splendor of the Mini Canyon
Upon reaching the summit, we finally witnessed the cliffs that are the hallmark of Pineapple Mountain. Although it is called the 'Hong Kong Grand Canyon,' its unique landscape and scenery gave us a different kind of charm.
🔆 Reflecting on the Experience
After a day of adventure, we reminisced about our experiences on the way back. Everyone agreed that the trip to Pineapple Mountain was well worth it. The natural scenery and challenging trails provided us with a moment of peace and relaxation amidst our busy lives.

Enjoy Balinese Vibes and Irresistible Desserts at Be Leaf (Kwun Tong)
Restaurant: Be Leaf (Kwun Tong)
Address: Shop 2, G/F, Imperial Plaza, 55 King Yip Street, Kwun Tong
Be Leaf has been quietly operating in Kwun Tong's Imperial Plaza for three years now. Every time I pass by this cafe, I'm drawn in by its exquisite Balinese-inspired decor 🤩. Plus, it's pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends to chill 🐶. It's definitely a great place to relax and pass the time, not to mention their outstanding fusion dishes and unique desserts 😋.
Every corner of the restaurant exudes a laid-back vibe, thanks in large part to the abundant plant decorations 🌴. During lunch, there are over ten main courses to choose from, all reasonably priced and portioned. The cheapest option is the Garlic Spicy Pepper Chicken with Japanese Pearl Rice at $82, while the most expensive is the Pan-Seared New Zealand Premium Ribeye Steak at $168 🥩. For an additional $18, you can upgrade to a set meal that includes the soup of the day, bread, and a choice of Earl Grey Tea, Roselle Tea, or Iced Tea. You can also pay extra for other drinks ☕️, such as their homemade Caramel Biscuit Coffee (+$28) with a caramel aroma, or the Chenpi Roselle Tea (+$15), which is good for detoxifying and lowering blood pressure and lipids. Any of these drinks are perfect for snapping photos 📸 in any corner of the restaurant.
✝️ Spicy White Wine Butter Sautéed Crab Meat and Scallop Pasta $118
This seafood pasta 🍝 is generously portioned with hand-picked crab meat and scallops, along with edamame for garnish. While I personally didn't find the edamame to be a perfect match, it did add some color and didn't taste out of place. The pasta is sautéed in a spicy white wine and butter sauce 🍶, making it mildly spicy and appetizing 🌶️.
✝️ Sweet and Sour Sauce Slow-Cooked American Pork Ribs with Fries $158
These pork ribs are slow-cooked and baked for 16 hours 🔥, resulting in incredibly tender meat. The six ribs are covered with a good amount of pork, and the sweet and sour sauce enhances the flavor without being overpowering. The dish also comes with fries, though they might lose some crispiness from absorbing the sauce 🤏.
✝️ Classic Tiramisu Soufflé Pancakes $128 (Half Price $64)
Dessert lovers, take note 👀! If you book a table in advance and order a lunch set, you can get any dessert at half price 🍰, with no limit on the number of desserts 😍. This time, I tried their signature Tiramisu Soufflé Pancakes 🥞. Since the dessert chef makes it fresh to order, it does take some time, and it might sell out. The rich Tiramisu sauce, along with plenty of chocolate chips and cocoa powder, is generously spread over two thick pancakes, resembling a waterfall 😆. The pancakes are airy yet soft and fluffy, with a delightful egg aroma 🤤.
Don't throw away your receipt after paying‼️ The receipt also serves as a coupon 🎊. If you return within 14 days, you can use the receipt to get a free Thai Pandan Basque Burnt Cheesecake 🍰 or Hojicha Soft-Centered Basque Burnt Cheesecake 😚.
My Magical Journey at Hong Kong Disneyland
Every moment at Hong Kong Disneyland is filled with magic, especially when night falls and the fireworks begin to light up the sky. As a frequent traveler, I believe that the fireworks show at Hong Kong Disneyland is one of the best.
As I wander through the park, surrounded by adorable Disney characters and colorful buildings, I am filled with childhood memories. Especially at night, when the fireworks show begins, the entire park becomes even more enchanting. The dazzling fireworks sparkle in the night sky, accompanied by familiar Disney music, making me feel an unparalleled happiness.
Each firework seems to tell a story, reminding me of those classic Disney movies and characters. This wonderful atmosphere makes me appreciate the beauty of life, as if I am in a dream.
The journey to Hong Kong Disneyland is undoubtedly one of my most cherished memories. Whether it's the thrilling rides or the breathtaking fireworks show, this place makes me feel the magic and beauty of Disney. I look forward to reliving this unforgettable fairy tale time in the future!
Hong Kong's 'Cat Island': A Journey Through the Water Village of Tai O
Tai O, a fishing village located in the western part of Hong Kong, is renowned for its unique stilt houses and natural scenery, making it a captivating travel destination. Here, you can explore Hong Kong's 'Cat Island,' enjoy the scenery, and savor delicious food, making your trip full of surprises.
✨The Charm of Cat Island:
Due to the large number of adorable stray cats in Tai O, I call it Hong Kong's Cat Island. These cats leisurely roam around the village, attracting countless tourists to take photos and interact with them.
✨Tiger Hill Scenery:
Tiger Hill is not only a great place for hiking (easy to climb) but also an ideal spot to experience the grandeur and tranquility of nature. Whether you seek adventure or peace, Tiger Hill can meet your needs.
✨Culture of Stilt Houses:
The stilt houses of Tai O are a cultural heritage of Hong Kong. Visitors can take a small boat to closely observe these unique structures and learn about the local fishermen's way of life.

Enjoy a Western-style Cafe lunch, there's definitely something for you.
Restaurant: Plato Cafe & Bistro (Kwun Tong)
Address: Shop 309, 3/F, YM², 33 Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong
If you're familiar with dining in the Yau Tsim Mong District, you probably know Plato Cafe & Bistro. After the closure of their upstairs branch on Nathan Road, the Jordan branch on Woosung Street seemed to be the only one left. However, six months ago, Plato opened a new branch on the outdoor terrace of YM² in Kwun Tong, and recently, they also opened a third branch in Mikiki, San Po Kong 🎊
During non-peak lunch hours on weekdays, the cafe is still about 70-80% full. If you want to dine here, it's best to arrive a bit early to secure a seat. The Kwun Tong branch offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area mainly features booth seating, providing a spacious feel 👍. Near the entrance, there's a quote on the wall: 'I Can Do All Things Through HIM Who Strengthens Me.' Does it resonate with you? 😎
As always, their lunch sets are quite attractive 🤩. The cheapest salad is only $68, and the most expensive Australian rib-eye steak is $148 🥩, which includes a soup or garden salad 🥗 and a $32 drink. If you order a $46 latte like I did, you'll need to add $14 ☕️. There are also various snacks and desserts available for an additional charge. My friend and I added a homemade Japanese cheesecake for $28 🍰. It was a small piece, but the texture was smooth and slightly dense, with some cereal flakes as garnish, making it even more appealing 🤓
✝️ Spanish Iberico Pork Chop with Apple Sauce $128
This boneless Spanish Iberico pork chop is quite thick 🐷, about 4-5cm. The most impressive part is that despite its thickness, you can still taste the tenderness and juiciness of the pork chop whether you cut it with a knife or bite into it 💦. The slightly crispy and charred flavor on both sides, combined with the sweet apple sauce, helps to cut through the richness. Paired with white rice, it's definitely filling 😌
✝️ Herb Roasted Spring Chicken $98
This half herb-roasted spring chicken is visually and aromatically appealing 🔥. However, it tasted a bit too salty due to the extra seasoning 🤏. The cooking time was well-controlled, making the chicken incredibly tender. Paired with spaghetti, it helps to balance out the saltiness 🍝

Rosewood Hong Kong has exclusive views of Victoria Harbour!
Rosewood Hong Kong has exclusive views of Victoria Harbour. The Rosewood is so photogenic.
The unbeatable sea view is so beautiful! Come and check in with Jennie's same style, especially in the morning, the sea is sparkling with mirrors! I'm almost dizzy.
It's especially suitable for girls who like to take pictures.
Stay 2 and pay 1 is really cost-effective and also send a $100 consumption coupon.
The downstairs k11 shopping is really convenient and close to Harbour City.
I feel that the designer likes symmetrical design and even the shower is two facing each other.
I'm still wondering if anyone will take a bath face to face.
The details of the Rosewood Hotel are always the most in place, and the others are not important. It is necessary to have a silver ice bucket and stolzle crystal wine glass. Rosewood is the best in this respect, and no other can match it.
The same black and white marble bathroom, Ritz Carlton is a bit local tyrant, Waldorf is a bit old-fashioned. Four seasons are neither good nor bad. Only Rosewood combines luxury and art so cleverly.
Beijing Rosewood is inferior in view, London Rosewood is inferior in area, but the golden dog at the front desk in London surprised me. This is the first time I have seen a hotel that raises dogs on its own, which is rare.
Stay at this hotel for your Hong Kong trip.
Every time I come to Hong Kong, I have a new feeling. This time I just want to fly abroad from Hong Kong, so I decided to come to Hong Kong to enjoy the holiday in advance, with a slow-paced plan and not too rushed itinerary.
This time I chose a five-star hotel on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront

🍃Hotel environment
The hotel has a modern and simple design style. We live in a deluxe sea view room. The room area is 30 square meters, the bathroom space is also large, and there is a bathtub. It is rare in Hong Kong where every inch of land is worth a lot of money.
The huge floor-to-ceiling windows in the room are invincible sea views
❤️Every day I wake up is a visual feast. Pulling the curtains can see the sunrise of Victoria Harbour. When night falls, it is accompanied by a brilliant night view. In the room, you can see the romantic scenery of Victoria Harbour, which is very healing and comfortable, suitable for relaxing and relaxing.
The hotel has a 24-hour gym and a rooftop outdoor swimming pool.
🍽The restaurant in the hotel is also a highlight. From authentic Cantonese cuisine to international cuisine, every bite is the ultimate tease of taste buds. Moreover, you can also enjoy the invincible sea view while enjoying the food. This experience is not easy to find elsewhere!
🔥We tasted a three-course lunch at The Lounge restaurant in the lobby. This restaurant has just been upgraded and renovated. The dining environment is elegant and comfortable, with a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. There is also a wine lounge, down to the basement wine cellar, where there are all kinds of wines, and there will be wine tasting activities here.
❤️The appetizer is Spanish ham with melon. The main course I ordered is baked pork chop rice. The method is traditional Hong Kong cooking, and the taste is very good. The little friend ordered the Australian ribeye steak, and the steak is fresh and tender.
The hotel's desserts are unique, and you can choose one from the dessert cabinet. There are daily selections here. The taste is very good, not too sweet, and there are no other additives, which is healthier.

📍Park Entry Order (suggestions only):
🔥 Ladies, take photos as soon as you enter, this is when you look your best!! Once you start playing games, your state will change🥹🥹
🔥 Then head to ❄Frozen World - Frozen Ever After (the content is scene transitions, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐, highly recommended!) - the sled project of the same theme is not recommended (the content is a roller coaster🎢, very short, low thrill, suitable for children)
🔥 Then rush to 🪐Toy Story Land - RC Racer (the content is a pirate ship, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, highly recommended!!! The game is very thrilling, with a strong sense of weightlessness, I would call it the most thrilling project in the entire Disneyland hh) - Toy Soldier Parachute Drop (a small drop tower, I didn't sit on it, but it seems suitable for those who want to try a drop tower but are a bit scared)
🔥🌪Mystic Point - Mystic Manor (the scenes are very interesting, a bit scary but not too much, no need to be afraid. The scene settings are very delicate, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐, highly recommended, and the queue is not long!)
🔥🐻Grizzly Gulch - Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars (highly recommended, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, I won't spoil the content, but it's a surprising roller coaster!)
🔥I didn't go to the Adventureland theme, went straight to 🌏Tomorrowland - everyone should go to ❗Hyperspace Mountain❗ first, because most people will queue for Iron Man Experience first, then for Hyperspace Mountain, and it will be very crowded!
- I rode Hyperspace Mountain twice, an indoor roller coaster in the dark, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, super fun, highly recommended!! - Iron Man Experience (4D giant screen, takes you through Hong Kong) I suggest sitting in the front row for a stronger experience😍
🔥 Finally, head to 🎻Fantasyland - Mad Hatter Tea Cups, great for photos, but I didn't queue, the queue time should be short, those who want to go can queue first - Mickey's PhilharMagic, although a 5D movie, the viewing effect is excellent! Usually, people enter from the left, you can go around to the right to enter, maybe you can get the front row!
🔥 Finally, you can go to Main Street, USA to buy what you want~

In the bustling city, there's a Grade I historic building!
It's the former Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir. Starting from August 1st, you can enter without a reservation, but only 100 people are allowed, on a first-come, first-served basis. Departing from Berwick Street in Sham Shui Po, it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk there. However, there are quite a few stairs, so take your time and be careful not to get heatstroke under the shade of the trees.
If you want to learn more about this century-old building, you can book a free guided tour online. But this time, I decided to explore it on my own without joining a tour. Upon arrival, I saw neatly arranged granite columns, semi-circular arches made of red bricks, and concrete vaulted ceilings, all built in a European style, full of ancient Roman architectural features.
Hong Kong Afternoon Tea Recommendation: Le 188° Restaurant & Lounge, Delicious Desserts, Rooftop Sea View!
Le 188° Restaurant & Lounge is located on the 41st floor of the Harbour Grand Hong Kong Hotel. It is a top-notch place for afternoon tea! The food is abundant, with various unique desserts and special textures! Additionally, the set includes two complimentary glasses of sparkling wine, making it a perfect spot to enjoy both gourmet food and stunning views! From here, you can see the entire Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui sea view. The restaurant's atmosphere is also very high-end, making it an unforgettable afternoon tea experience! Highly recommended!
