Revitalized Mei Ho House Youth Hostel

Due to work convenience, I needed to stay overnight in Shek Kip Mei, so I chose the YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel located at 70 Berwick Street, Shek Kip Mei. This hostel is a revitalized conversion of the oldest 6-story H-shaped resettlement block, a historic building. There is also a nostalgic living museum on the ground floor, which is very unique! It is close to the Sham Shui Po area, with Garden Bakery, Apliu Street, Golden Computer Arcade, and the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre, another revitalized factory building, nearby. Everything you need is within easy reach! The hostel's reception is in the ground floor lobby, and the check-in process is simple. You just need to pay a $500 deposit to get the key card. However, since this is a youth hostel and not a formal hotel, they have a special requirement: guests need to bring their pillowcases, duvet covers, and bed sheets to the recycling bin outside the reception when checking out, to facilitate collection for cleaning. The room is spacious enough and simply decorated, with beautifying paintings as accents. I was assigned to the 2nd floor, and the highest floor is only the 6th. The room has a large window with views of the nearby park and street. Basic amenities are complete, but due to plastic control policies, bottled water and toothbrush sets are not provided. The shower and toilet space is sufficient, allowing for dry and wet separation, and the hygiene is good! Overall, it feels relaxed and comfortable! Suitable for a simple staycation.
