Hong Kong Restaurant Review: Bedu in Central

Today, my friends and I tried Middle Eastern cuisine for the first time in our lives. Bedu is located on Gough Street in Central, a street filled with many unique restaurants and a colonial atmosphere. The restaurant has a bar-style setup with stylish decor, attracting many foreign tourists. Shortly after we sat down, the waiter brought a box of Middle Eastern spices that looked a bit like cigars for us to season our food. They offer unique cocktails and mocktails. We started with the MEZZE PLATTER. The flatbread had a slightly charred aroma and could be paired with hummus, spinach cheese, and vegetables. The Honey Roasted Feta Cheese with Crispy Potatoes was served in a small pan with honey still bubbling. The cheese was soft and gooey, and the combination of crispy potatoes and the sweet and salty mix of honey and cheese was quite unique. The Roasted Broccoli with Crispy Kale and Herb Yogurt Sauce featured crispy fried kale and slightly charred, sweet broccoli, paired with a flavorful yogurt sauce. It was both delicious and healthy. The Slow-Cooked Chicken Leg with Carrot Hummus and Middle Eastern Chili Herb Sauce was surprisingly tender and juicy. The flavor was somewhat reminiscent of Chinese ginger scallion sauce, making it quite special. The Saffron Nut Rice had a great texture, somewhat similar to Portuguese rice, with vibrant colors and a soft, sticky texture. For dessert, we had Walnut and Almond Caramel Mille-Feuille with Vanilla Ice Cream. The mille-feuille was crispy and paired with four scoops of vanilla ice cream, making for a generous portion.
