This is Ho Kee Almond Tea Specialty Shop located in Sai Kung! It is hidden in the bustling Fumin Road, but not hard to find. The small shop is run single-handedly by the owner Nelson, offering a variety of classic Chinese desserts. I visited twice and tried different flavors each time. The presentation was beautiful, and the taste was very comforting, making me very happy. Smooth Walnut Paste $48! Served in a Western-style soup plate and decorated with beautiful edible flowers, it is visually pleasing. Not only is the presentation attractive, but the taste is also quite enticing. The walnut paste has an incredibly smooth texture and is full of rich nutty aroma. It does not leave an oily feeling in the mouth, and the sweetness is just right, making it gentle and delicious. Rich Durian Pudding $58 made with Musang King durian! The sweet aroma fills the mouth instantly, and the smooth texture makes me, a durian lover, very delighted. Half a month later, I revisited the shop because I promised Nelson to try their signature freshly ground egg white almond tea $48! My friends who know me well are aware that I usually dislike anything with almonds! But after trying it for the first time, I had great confidence in the owner's ingredients and craftsmanship, which led to our second visit. This freshly ground egg white almond tea is only added with egg white and seasoning after ordering, so the egg white is very fresh and tender. The almond tea does not have the almond cream flavor that I dislike. Instead, it has a subtle original almond aroma that is surprisingly attractive, which is a testament to the shop's genuine quality. Freshly Ground Sesame Paste $48 is also meticulously made! The black sesame is roasted to a very fragrant level without any burnt bitterness, definitely a labor of love. The sesame aroma lingers in the mouth for a long time, and the taste is superb. For those who like it, you can mix the two together like we did, creating a rich and layered black and white combination that is even more satisfying. Although Sai Kung is very far for me! Such a dedicated small shop definitely deserves more support. I hope that every time I visit, I can enjoy the desserts that Nelson has carefully prepared.
