A Bowl of White Rice

On Saturday, I went to Tsim Sha Tsui for lunch with a friend, craving some grilled fish! I recommended we go to Xiao Yu Er, as it's his go-to spot. Besides the rich variety of affordable lunch sets, their grilled fish is a signature dish! There are many options for grilled fish, and you can easily see what to order by looking at the placemat! We finally chose the Old Pickled Cabbage and Tofu Sea Bass, with a bit of spice and numbness. When it was served, I was surprised by how big it was! The fish was huge and meaty! It came with cilantro, tofu, loofah, pickled cabbage, garlic, and more, making my mouth water just by looking at it. I immediately ordered a bowl of white rice! The rice was piled high like a small mountain, enough for two people. The sea bass was white and firm, with a nice chewy texture. The meat came off in chunks without many bones, perfect for lazy eaters! I poured half a bowl of soup over the rice, added some fish, and it became an irresistible bowl of pickled cabbage fish rice! I couldn't stop eating! We also added enoki mushrooms and fried tofu skin to absorb the essence of the grilled fish, which was delicious! The large plate was enough for two people, and it seemed like we couldn't finish it no matter how much we ate! It took us almost an hour and a half to finish the grilled fish, enjoying salty lemon soda and iced lemon tea along the way. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back!
