Record post Hong Kong. Cheung Chau Island Vacation Land.

Cheung Chau Island has a strong local life vibe, but it’s definitely not the kind that’s loud and bustling. Comfortable. Lively. Leisurely. Exquisite. Perfect for escaping the daily grind and returning to the essence of life itself. Transportation: MTR Hong Kong Station Exit F 👉🏻 Central Pier 5 👉🏻 Cheung Chau Island Slow ferry: 14.8 HKD about 50 minutes / Fast ferry: 29.2 HKD about 30 minutes ❗️Pay attention to the ferry schedule or you might have to wait a long time. Arrived at the pier at 12 noon yesterday ☺️ luckily caught the 12:20 slow ferry. ❗️Be sure to bring cash and small bills (many shops don’t accept 1000 HKD notes but you can exchange at convenience stores). Near the Cheung Chau pier, there are many snacks and dai pai dongs. 🍜 Turn right at the pier to the market entrance, there are lots of noodle and congee stalls... Chen Tong Kee is also hidden here. The satay beef rice noodles are delicious. The beef is fresh and tender. The crushed peanuts and satay flavor blend very well. It’s not an amazing taste but definitely a comforting, hot meal. ❗️Chen Tong Kee’s chili oil is very spicy. Adding chili oil will overpower other flavors. It’s very popular so the wait time is long. 🥧 While waiting for noodles, I bought egg tarts with biscuit crust and coconut tarts from a nearby alley. You can taste the fragrant coconut oil. The peace bun has a nice meaning but is not recommended. (Various stuffed big steamed buns hhhh) 🍢 Turn left at the pier towards Tung Wan Beach. Giant fish balls, cold skewers, gelato, sushi hand rolls... all the snacks are worth trying. 🍹 Mango glutinous rice balls and mango juice are highly recommended. The glutinous rice balls have a wonderful texture plus a piece of fresh mango. Mango juice is truly a blessing for mango lovers. Liquid mango! Impressed by the prices. Eating all the way. On the way to Tung Wan Beach, there are various small shops: DIY lock and tag shops, Japanese and Korean brands, local handmade crafts, dessert, coffee, shaved ice shops, pet supplies... small, exquisite, and diverse. Perfect for leisurely browsing and digesting food. 🏝️ Tung Wan Beach has very fine sand and clear water. The sea has a jelly-like texture. ⛩️ Stayed a while then headed to North Lookout Pavilion. It’s a short mountain path. From the pavilion, on one side you can see mountains, trees, and sea; on the other side, the whole island. The scenery is beautiful. The whole way is great for photos. When tired, just relax in the pavilion and enjoy the breeze. 🌅 Rushing down to the island’s west coast to watch the sunset was the worst decision. The sun was completely blocked by the mountain peaks. You can stay near the North Lookout Pavilion until sunset and then go down. The view will definitely be better. It’s okay. Leaving some regrets is for the next visit! Took the fast ferry back to Hong Kong at 7 pm. The packed sushi hand rolls with spicy squid and tempura series were even better. I marvel at the genius who designed the sushi roll takeaway bag! PS. A wonderful coincidence. While munching on the peace bun at North Lookout Pavilion, I met a passerby uncle. He said the reason he finally returned to HK was because he felt this place is a vacation place. Unexpectedly met him again at Central Pier on the return trip. I hope I can also work hard for another 30 years and then enjoy an ideal retirement life. 🥺
