The “Moon Story” at Victoria Park

Mid-Autumn Festival is one of Hong Kong’s most beloved holidays. This year the festival falls on Saturday, 10 September, which means many people will be out to celebrate it on Friday night! Yes, I did the same. I had spent Friday night with friends exploring beautiful lantern installations we could find all over the city. One of them is in Victoria Park. The highlight of the illuminated lantern installation at Victoria Park is the “Moon Story" display. It consists of three lanterns, ranging from 3 meters to 4.5m tall, with the iconic appearance of a full moon on a hilltop and a hopping rabbit. Other colorful lantern decorations displayed at Victoria Park include a 7m-high lantern entitled "Happy Duo under the Full Moon," a revolving lantern featuring horses and the moon, 12 zodiac signs, etc. We did a selfie in front of the zodiac sign, Gemini, as three of us are Gemini. Yeayyy! The lit-up time of the decorations at Victoria Park is from 6.30 pm to 11 pm, but on the mid-autumn day (September 10), it will extend till midnight! We so much enjoyed the lanterns and left the park precisely at 11:00 PM when all light decorations were turned off, and all visitor were advised to leave the park!
