Edinburgh's Old Town: Historical Treasures

If you ever find yourself in the UK, you have to go up to Edinburgh, Scotland! The UK is made up of constituent nations that are all unique and have their own colorful history. On my recent trip to Edinburgh, I dedicated 1 full day to exploring the Old Town and the surrounding vicinity. Here are some tips and quick guides on a few places of interest ⬇️ 1. Edinburgh Castle Incomplete visit to Scotland without seeing this stunning, gigantic piece of history! To see such an imposing structure with a fortress atop a hill that looks like it came out of a storybook.. just beautiful! There are many monuments within the castle grounds too. £18 per adult ticket. 2. The Old Town Any Harry Potter fans find this place familiar? 🤭🤭This is Victoria Street, less than 2 minutes' walk from the beginning of The Royal Mile. Lots of amazing architecture dating from as early as the 1500-1600s! The Royal Mile is a charming, steep street lined with pubs and restaurants. 3. St. Giles Cathedral Also a short stroll away. It's been operating for almost 900 years now. It's witnessed turbulent times in Scotland, especially during the Scottish Reformation. Get an e-guide while here! Getting There - By direct flight from London, or by Lumo/LNER from London's King's Cross (4.5hr ride) Attractions - Give the Old Town 1 day and explore its historical treasures Hotels - Many affordable inns and lodging houses in the vicinity of the old town Food & Restaurants - Good scottish pubs and traditional foodfare along the whole of the Royal Mile!
