Seek a place of tranquility and enjoy a cup of temple coffee

Ciyun Temple, formerly known as Beisi Temple, is located in the Dagu River Provincial Ecotourism Resort in Jiaozhou City, Qingdao. It is situated in the Shaohai South Lake of the National Wetland Park. The temple was first built in the first year of Tang Tianshun (890 AD) and is one of the four major Buddhist temples in Jiaozhou, as well as one of the most magnificent and solemn temples of the Tang Dynasty. Ciyun Temple faces south and is symmetrically aligned along a central axis. It adopts a courtyard layout and consists of buildings such as the Mahavira Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Sutra Library, Bell and Drum Tower, Guanyin Hall, Dizang Hall, Puxian Hall, and Wenshu Hall. In March 2009, the Jiaozhou Municipal Government began the restoration and reconstruction of Ciyun Temple on its original site. The reconstruction was completed and opened to the public in May 2012. In August 2013, Buddhist Master Liaoshan led a monastic community to reside in Ciyun Temple. The "Morning Bell of Ciyun" was one of the eight scenic spots of Jiaozhou during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, and the "Ciyun" mentioned refers to Ciyun Temple. Ciyun Coffee is located beside the Drum Tower of Ciyun Temple. In addition to coffee and Western-style desserts, it also offers Chinese pastries and creative ice cream. Some friends say the desserts are average, but personally, I think they are not inferior to many coffee shops in the city and are quite exquisite. The coffee selection is not extensive, but the ambiance is very suitable for resting and chatting. There is a shuttle bus within the Shaohai Scenic Area that costs 10 yuan per person to reach the temple.
