Mantin: Thousand Years Story Park

#100waysoftravel Manting Park is located in the southeast of Jinghong City, Yunnan Province, about 2 kilometers from the city center and covers an area of about 12 hectares. With more than a thousand years of history, Manting Park is the oldest park in Jinghong City. In medieval times, it was a popular place among feudal rulers, where they came to relax among nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Manting Park is also known as Chunhuan Park, which in Chinese means "a place where your soul can relax and let go of all worries." There is a legend that one of the Dai rulers had a beautiful young daughter. One day she decided to visit this place and, walking through the park, was so amazed by its beauty that she forgot about everything in the world, and her soul flew to heaven. But this is just a legend, so it is unlikely that you will suffer the fate of a princess, but you will have bright and unforgettable impressions from visiting the park. There are several historical attractions in the park. Immediately at the entrance you will be greeted by a bronze statue, it was erected in honor of Prime Minister Zhou Enlai, who once participated with the Chinese in the celebration of the New Year according to the Dai calendar - the famous Splash Festival. Two dodhi trees are planted to the left of the statue, which were presented by the Princess of Thailand as a sign of friendship between the two states. Behind the park is the Jiebajie Temple, the most important Buddhist temple in Xishuanbang. There is also a peacock park, where beautiful majestic peacocks walk and an elephant park, where trained giants surprise the audience with various acrobatic tricks. In the evening, there is also something to do and see in the park. Bonfire parties are held every night from 19:30 to 22:30. For three hours you will be able to enjoy a bright and colorful song and dance show, which is tripled by the Chinese dressed in traditional costumes. Today's Manting Park is not just a park for recreation and entertainment – it is also a place where you can get to know the original culture of the Dai people, their interesting traditions and unusual architecture, and even enjoy Dai cuisine in one of the small villages located near the park.
