China's Most Expensive Hotel | Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Jiuzhaigou

As a Sichuan native, I have heard rumors about the opening of the Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Jiuzhaigou for several years. After many twists and turns, it finally opened last year. However, I remained skeptical about whether the domestic owners and hotel management could justify the jaw-dropping room rates and the choice of location in Jiuzhaigou. Until this visit home, I must say it truly lives up to the name 'Reserve'! The prestigious Reserve Mountain and Sea Pavilion, where I stayed, is located in the highest area of the hotel, featuring an ultra-large terrace with extremely wide views. The room rate is about 13,000+ RMB per night, and if you're lucky, you can redeem it with 90,000+ Marriott points. The hotel's most basic rooms are 160-square-meter one-bedroom standalone villas, with the only difference being their position on the hillside. During my stay, there were more staff than guests, creating a very 'reserved' atmosphere. For dinner at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, I opened a bottle of Caymus that I bought in Napa and flew halfway across the world to bring to the mountains of Sichuan. It paired very well with yak palm, and the executive chef personally came to greet us. The hotel now has a boutique store featuring the Loro Piana outdoor series, and there are various activities every day. This time, I experienced making Tibetan incense and visiting a Tibetan family. Although the hotel is excellent, staying for more than two days might become boring for young people. Whether it is worth ten times the price of the Conrad at the foot of the mountain is subjective.
