Mugecuo Scenic Area (木格措)

Location: Kangding Mugecuo - First stop of my road trip from Chengdu (290km away) - 3778m asl, in the north of Kangding County, also known as Kangding Love Song Scenic Area. As a main attraction within Mount Gongga, the whole site occupies an area of about 300 sqkm, integrating pristine landscape. Mugecuo Lake 3700m is a large plateau lake, the water surface covers about 3 sqkm. The lake is surrounded by pines, cedars, and rhododendron trees on three sides. Connecting Wild Man Lake, Rhododendron Valley is a gorgeous belt traversing the scenic area. More than 68 kinds of rhododendrons are growing here. Continuing downward Yaochi Feiquan, the amazing boiling springs with medical effects, containing lots of trace elements beneficial to health. About 3000m far from the boiling springs, there is the Seven-Color Lake, also a plateau lake. The tones of the lake vary among seven colors according to weather conditions, hence its name. How to visit: there are shuttle busses inside the scenic area, I took the bus till the top and than walked down, it takes one full day if you enjoy every place.
