Beautiful Island Station is the only interchange station for the Kaohsiung MRT early road network. Designed by Japanese architect Takamatsu, the site is symbolized by prayer. The public art work inside the station, the dome of the light, was created by the Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata. It consists of 4,500 pieces of glass, about 30 meters in diameter and a total area of 660 square meters. It is the world's largest one-piece glass piece of public art work, and is also the world's largest masterpiece of glass mosaic art. Beautiful Island comes out with four glass entrances, which are still harmonious in other buildings.
