Chinese History Museum, Kuching

The building was built in 1912 and is located on the Kuching River Cliffs. Originally, it was used as a court by the Chinese people, and later it was taken over by the Chinese Trade Council and made it the Museum of Chinese History. Although small, it is well maintained and very informative. The museum provides a detailed introduction to the nine major Chinese communities. It also introduces the dialects, cuisine, temples, musical instruments, ceramics and more. The displays and write-ups were easy to understand and gave a good explanation of the Chinese culture. The museum educates the younger generation to appreciate all the struggles and values as encountered and instilled by the early pioneers. Admission is free.
