Visit Kumamoto Castle

Kumamoto Castle is located in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Also known as Ginkgo Castle, it is one of Japan's most famous attractions, alongside Osaka Castle and Nagoya Castle. It was built by the famous general Kiyomasa Kato over seven years, and was formerly known as Kumamoto Castle during the Muromachi period. It covers an area of 980,000 square meters and is a representative building of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Most of Kumamoto Castle was destroyed in the Satsuma Rebellion in 1877, and the remaining buildings were gradually rebuilt from 1960. When I visited, some of the buildings were still under construction. Climbing to the top of the castle tower, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Kumamoto City, with Mount Aso in the distance. I was amazed by the wisdom and power of humanity!
