Kundasang: A Serene Escape from The City

#familytrips2024 Nestled in the heart of Sabah, Kundasang, also often called 'SEA New Zealand,' is a picturesque town that promises many things. From Kota Kinabalu town, it took us about 2hours drive to Kundasang. We stopped by a few places before we finally arrived at our humble lodge for the night. The first stop was the upside-down house (rumah terbalik) at Tamparuli, a small town about a 30-minute drive from Kota Kinabalu. It's not a big place, but it's interesting enough for my 2 young kids to wander and have fun taking pictures of everything upside-down. Next, we stopped by Pekan Nabalu Weekly Market, where you can find some local snacks and souvenirs. Also, there's a viewing platform for Mount Kinabalu. We didn't manage to get a good photo due to cloudy and rainy days. But the fresh and cool air had definitely hyped us up, especially after a few days under the sun in the city. One of our stops at Kundasang was Sosodikon Hill, an alternative for people like me who didn't manage to climb Mount Kinabalu. It opens at 6am when we reached there around 6.10 am it was already full of people. Here you can see a close look at Mount Kinabalu. The sight of the rays of sunshine over Kundasang and Mount Kinabalu was breathtaking. Highly recommended if you would like to watch sunrise over Mount Kinabalu.
