Kunshan Huiju Temple of the Heavenly Queen

Huiju Temple was originally located in the south of Ma'anshan (Yufeng Mountain) in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, and was founded in the tenth year of the Tianjian era of the Liang Dynasty (511 AD). In 2005, it was rebuilt in the Kunshan Development Zone on Yangshu Road (south bank of Taicang Pond, west side of Dongting Lake Road), with the main temple area covering an area of 22 acres. Huiju Temple was founded in the tenth year of the Tianjian era of the Liang Dynasty (511 AD). With the grace of Emperor Wu of Liang, it was built by the master monk Huixiang (who was the teacher of Emperor Wu of Liang). Historically, it was a Buddhist jungle in the south of the Yangtze River with significant influence, flourishing incense, and numerous followers. It is a millennium-old famous temple with a long history of humanities and brilliant artistic culture. 'In the Southern Dynasties, four hundred and eighty temples, how many towers in the misty rain,' among them was Huiju Temple. In 2005, initiated by Chairman Cai of Baocheng International Group and other friendly individuals, and approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau, with the joint efforts of people from all walks of life across the Taiwan Strait, the Kunshan Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government rebuilt the millennium-old Huiju Temple in a different location in the Kunshan Development Zone, on the west side of Dongting Lake Road and north side of Yangshu Road, with the concept of 'innovative and breakthrough thinking, an inclusive mind, and the integration of cross-strait cultures.' The funds were donated by enterprises. The temple area of Huiju Temple covers about 22 acres, with a construction area of about 7,000 square meters. Construction started in May 2008. The temple has a grand scale and a complete structure facing south from the north. The central axis temple area is nearly 6,500 square meters. From the cultural square, passing the Jingshui Bridge to the back, there are the Mountain Gate, Five Gates Hall, Ancestral Guest Hall, Yuantong Treasure Hall, Manjusri Hall, Samantabhadra Hall, Rear Hall, Wing Corridors, and the Suzhou Garden-style backyard, integrating traditional Southern Fujian and classical Taiwanese architecture, with elegant, beautiful, and exquisite traditional artistic characteristics. It is the first temple architectural complex in East China that embodies the essence of cross-strait architectural art. Combining Mazu culture, Buddhist culture, Minnan and Taiwanese culture, and Jiangnan culture, it is the first pure 'Minnan-Taiwanese' style temple architectural complex in East China and also the largest Mazu temple in the region.
