Night visit at Sensoji, Asakusa

Being the oldest temple in Tokyo, Sensoji is well known to many regardless of locals or foreigners alike and many who visited Tokyo will flock to this temple to for visitation. Constructed in A.D. 645, it is crowned to be the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. The gate of Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) is the main symbolic artifact which tells the visitor that they have entered the temple. Walking down 200m of shopping street Nakamise, visitors will be led to the main hall as well as Asakusa Shrine built by Tokugawa Iemitsu in 1649. Various important events were also held but the biggest one is Sanja Matsuri held in May. New Years Day is also vibrant as visitors will flock to Asakusa temple to pay their first visit on the year.
