Rokusonno Shrine in Kyoto

Rokusonno Shrine is associated with the Seiwa Genji clan. The main deity is Minamoto no Tsunemoto, the founder of the Seiwa Genji clan, and the shrine was established during the Heian period. It is considered one of the 'Genji Sanjinja' (Three Genji Shrines) along with Tada Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture and Tsuboi Hachimangu Shrine in Osaka Prefecture. Although it declined during the medieval period, it was revived in the Edo period, and the current shrine buildings have been designated as tangible cultural properties by Kyoto City.
