Sharing Healing Scenery When you come to Kyoto, you must visit Sanzen-in. Sanzen-in is a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism, founded in 1118 AD. The main wooden statue of Amida Nyorai and the attendant statues on both sides in the temple are all nationally important cultural properties. The temple is filled with towering ancient trees, moss-covered grounds, and babbling streams. In April, cherry blossoms; in May, azaleas; in June, hydrangeas; in July, hydrangeas; and in autumn, red leaves. The natural scenery changes with the seasons, each spot offering a unique view. As you walk and observe, you quietly feel the passage of time.
