The Iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto ⛩️🦊🇯🇵

One of the most iconic places you can possibly visit in Japan, Fushimi Inari Taisha definitely lives up to it’s expectation. ⛩️ There are endless rows with thousands of vermilion torii gates, straddling a network of trails into the forest and up Mount Inari. The gates are actually donations from individuals or companies～ you can read their names and the date of the donation inscribed on each gate! 🦊 Dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari’s messengers and so there are many fox statues found around the temple. You can also find foxes in many of the shops and souvenirs nearby. 🥾 You can hike to the top of the mountain, which takes about 2-3 hours. It’s also possible to walk up however far you wish and then turn around. The best photo opportunities with the most gates are actually closer to the entrance. 📸 It can get very busy, very early so be strategic with your timings if you want to take photos with less crowds! 🚇 To get to Fushimi Inari Shrine, take the metro to JR Inari station. This is only 5 minutes and one stop away from Kyoto station.
