Shanghai Wanda Reign Hotel There are not many choices in the South Bund area, only the Bund Indigo and Wanda Reign. I don't want to comment too much on the C4-level Indigo, but there are some feelings about Wanda Reign that I can share from this stay. First of all, the basic room is really ordinary, with a very poor view and severe obstructions. Don't even consider upgrading to the Yu Garden city view room, as what you will see is just a bunch of relocated houses. It's better to upgrade to the third level, the Bund Deluxe Room (the one that costs 3,000 on Ctrip), which is the 01 room type. There's only one on each floor, with a broad view where you can see both the Bund river view and the city view, feeling the contrast between the new and old Shanghai. The room also has a massage chair, and it's quite pleasant to have a deep massage while looking at the river view. Let's talk about the hotel's design. The public areas and rooms of the hotel are obviously not cheap in terms of materials used, and they don't look bad, but there's always a sense of old-fashionedness. Upon closer thought, it's somewhat similar to the European style under the last generation's Chinese aesthetic, with a lot of gold-plated faucets and crystal lamps that are exquisite but also give a sense of being outdated. The service is quite good for a hotel in this segment, I'd give it 80 points. The breakfast is not very tasty, the noodles at Songhe Tower should not taste like this, and the quality of bread, vegetables, and fruits is average. The swimming pool is not very good, neither nice-looking nor big. The Coolcore Bar on the 21st floor has a terrace, which offers the best night view of the South Bund angle.
