Langzhong, a thousand-year-old city held back by its name

I first learned about Langzhong from an advertisement on CCTV: "Lang, Langzhong, I'm waiting for you here~" After hearing it many times, I recognized this character - "Lang", and knew this place - "Langzhong Ancient City". 🔥It is one of the four best-preserved ancient cities in China, along with 1⃣️Tongjiang Ancient City, 2⃣️Pingyao Ancient City, and 3⃣️Huizhou Ancient City; 🔥It is the 8⃣️th 5A-level scenic spot in Sichuan, besides 1⃣️Dujiangyan, 2⃣️Emeishan, 3⃣️Jiuzhaigou, 4⃣️Leshan, 5⃣️Huanglong, 6⃣️Beichuan, and 7⃣️Wenchuan; 🔥It is a city built according to the astronomical geomancy theory of the Tang Dynasty, and is revered by the people as the number one city of Feng Shui; 🔥It is the place in Sichuan with the most number one scholars in history. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was also the capital of Sichuan for nearly 20 years. Because Luoxiahong, who made a significant contribution to the creation of the "Taichu Calendar", was from Langzhong, Langzhong was officially recognized as the hometown of Chinese New Year culture; What's more, Langzhong Ancient City is one of the few ancient cities in China that does not charge admission. Since Langzhong Ancient City has such a big background and does not charge admission, why is it not as famous as the three ancient cities of Lijiang, Pingyao and Huizhou that are listed with it? 🤔 I guess it has a lot to do with the difficulty of reading the character "Lang". Having a rare character in the name of a tourist spot is a tricky problem for a tourist city. The name Langzhong was established by Qin in 314 BC, and it has been called Langzhong in China for more than 2300 years. Such an old name is not willing and impossible to change because of tourism, especially since "Lang" is a rare character, but it is a very good one. "Green mountains surround the four sides, and beautiful water surrounds the three sides", which once attracted the poet Du Fu to write poems and the painter Wu Daozi to paint for it. Outside the main street of the ancient city, there is hardly any commercial atmosphere. The ancient city residents who have lived here for generations are still living their original lives. In the ancient city circle, although Langzhong Ancient City has a big background and a solid foundation, its fame is far behind. This may be related to its rare name, or it may be related to its lack of "literary atmosphere", or there may be other reasons... But it is precisely because of this that it has become the most down-to-earth and "ancient" flavored ancient city. Go to Langzhong, your eyes and mouth will be full of return~~
