Passport and Palate

Days living on the mountain

During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, I wanted to go out but didn't want to be in crowded places, so I went to a special place called "Chongjiao Temple". Chongjiao Temple: A tranquil and elegant ancient monastery nestled in the deep mountains and dense forests, with morning bells and evening drums, babbling mountain springs, cicadas and frogs, cute dogs, and a group of lovely people. Schedule: Wake up at 4:20 AM, breakfast at 6:50 AM Lunch at 10:50 AM, nap from 12:10 PM to 1:40 PM Dinner at 4:50 PM, bedtime at 8:30 PM At first, I thought I would not be used to this schedule because we had to hand in our phones before sleeping. The mountain is very quiet, an unprecedented serenity. There are various activities every day, and I fall asleep more soundly than ever, curing my bad habits of staying up late and playing with my phone. The rice is almost ripe this season, and the green and yellow rice fields always evoke childhood memories, with the scent of the earth making one feel close to nature. Early in the morning, sitting in the bed of a pickup truck, lying on a mat and looking up at the stars, I hum the melody of 'The Brightest Star in the Night Sky'. The sky in the mountains is so clean! Under the deep blue background, every star is clearly visible. Then watching the dawn slowly dispel the darkness, and the sun rising gently, my heart is touched (I don't know by what) and always joyful! During meditation, the teacher explained the Dharma in simple terms. There are many confusions in the secular world, and during breaks, we chatted with the teacher. I was quite greedy and talked with the teacher for several days in a row, resolving many confusions and uncertainties in my heart. The teacher used her wisdom to teach us how to face secular life, and many classmates found some answers here. We stayed in the temple for 6 days. Apart from the travel expenses, we hardly spent any money, as there was nowhere to spend money in the mountains. The temple provided free food and lodging, and although the vegetarian meals were simple, they were especially delicious. When I got home, I even gained weight. The teacher also prepared various small gifts for us, blessed prayer beads, bracelets, and all kinds of delicious food, all for free. Here, I also want to thank the teachers and fellow students at the temple for their hard work and love. Chongjiao Temple is also open for short and long stays! For those who are confused, have a holiday, or want to find a quiet place to rest, Chongjiao Temple is a good choice.
