The 'Dongchang Prefecture Annals' and 'Liaocheng County Annals', as well as existing stele inscriptions, record 120 poems praising the Guangyue Tower. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty climbed the tower four times and inscribed the plaque 'Shen Guang Zhong Ying'. Emperor Qianlong passed through Dongchang nine times, climbed the Guangyue Tower six times, and listed it as one of the thirty-six imperial lodges during his southern tours.
