Ancient City on Water Tour: Longxing Temple Iron Pagoda

Opening hours: Closed on Mondays Tickets: Free Duration: 0.5 hours The Longxing Temple Iron Pagoda, also known as the Liaocheng Iron Pagoda, is one of the three treasures of Dongchangfu District, along with Guangyue Tower and Yuhuanggao (destroyed, currently being rebuilt). It is one of China's seven ancient iron pagodas. The Longxing Temple Iron Pagoda is one of the few iron and stone pagodas in China. It was built during the Song dynasty and was originally a pagoda in the Huguo Longxing Temple (the date of the temple's construction is unknown). The pagoda is made of cast iron and is designed to look like wood. The base of the pagoda is decorated with beautiful reliefs on all four sides. The pagoda is currently located in the courtyard of the Liaocheng Iron Pagoda Culture Museum. The courtyard is small and contains an exhibition hall, the "Liaocheng Song Dynasty Iron Pagoda Relics Exhibition," which displays relics unearthed from the pagoda. It takes about half an hour to visit the museum. The Huguo Longxing Temple is located across the street from the Liaocheng Iron Pagoda Culture Museum. The current Huguo Longxing Temple is a new building. When we visited, it was not yet completed, but it was already open to the public.
