The most beautiful town near the water: Yulin Town

Yulin Town is located at the southern end of Lingshui County, 53 kilometers away from Lingshui County, east to Wanshun Town and Honghu Town in Changshou District, Chongqing City, south to Dawan Town in Yubei District, Chongqing City and Gaotan Town in Lingshui County, west to Tantong Town, and north to Jiulong Town. Yulin River runs through Lingshui County from north to south, it is the last beach of Yulin River, hence the name Yaotan. It is said that Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty once lived here, and it was renamed Yulin during the Republic of China. The town is located in the hilly area, where Yulin River and Baishui River cross the town, and the river in the territory belongs to the Yangtze River Basin. Yulin Town is a famous 'fruit town' in Lingshui, with a citrus area of more than 9,000 mu. 'Huatang Navel Orange' and 'Yulin Navel Orange' have won national gold awards many times and are sold to the northeast region, enjoying a long-standing reputation. Yulin River Xiaoshan Gorge, located in Yulin Town, Lingshui County, is formed by Yulin River cutting through Tongluo Mountain. The gorge is 6 kilometers long, consisting of Yingzui Gorge, Xian'nv Gorge, Xiluo Gorge and the narrow valleys in between. The narrow valley is 20-50 meters wide, with a height difference of 100-200 meters from the cliffs on both sides. The karst development of Xian'nv Gorge is known to have more than 10 places such as Xian'nv Cave, Bailong Cave, Zhengjia Cave, Hejia Cave, etc. After the rainstorm, Bailong Cave sprays water to form a rare 'Bailong Crossing the River' spectacle; there are 3 hot springs in Xiaonanhai on the south bank, and there are more than 10 legends and cultural relics of Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty taking refuge in Yulin River in Lingshui; Xiaoshan Gorge is mainly based on gorges and water landscapes, integrating caves, hot springs, beaches, legendary relics and other natural and cultural landscapes, which is a good place for leisure tourism. There are many historical sites in Yulin Town. Du Jingxian (1347-1440), the 'Du Tianguan' of the Ming Dynasty, was a native of Yulin Town. He served as the inspector for more than 20 years. He was upright and fair, and was known as the 'loyal minister of the former emperor'. After resigning from office, he returned to his hometown Longmentan (now Songbai Beach in Yulin Town), opened a school, and the poor students came to study one after another. He built a granary to relieve the people, presided over the construction of Guanyin Temple, and preached not to let the people be deeply moved. The remains of the school and the granary are still there. In the fourth year of Ming Zhengtong (1440), Du Jingxian died of illness at home at the age of 94. Yulin Town has the former residence of Du Jingxian with a deep cultural heritage, the sweet and juicy Huatang Navel Orange, and the beautiful Yulin River Xiaosanxia.
