Traveling through billions of years, we explore the traces of time in Lanzhou

The Sumu Gully Danxia Grand Canyon is located within the territory of Lintao County, Gansu Province, with a total length of 27.5 kilometers and a drainage area of 166.3 square kilometers. It is one of the most beautiful Danxia geological canyon wonders in Western China and is known as the 'living geological evolution museum' closest to Lanzhou. The Danxia Grand Canyon is a composite cultural tourism adventure outdoor destination that combines natural wonders, canyon exploration, geological research, dinosaur fossils, ethnic style, and off-road driving! (It is about a 1 hour and 40 minutes drive from the city center, mostly on rural roads, so be careful when driving.) 🏃‍♀️The entire journey is about 8km, with an ascent of 200m, and takes about 5 hours. If lakes are the tears of God, then canyons are the cracks of the Earth. Unlike the tranquil and clear springs of the southwestern canyons, the blend of mountains, water, and wind over billions of years has endowed the northwestern canyons with richer colors and more graceful postures. Walking through the valleys, the ice and snow have not yet had time to completely freeze the streams, and the biting wind gathers the falling droplets into a sword. The boulders standing on the mountain peaks are like the statues of Easter Island, and the spring water from the hidden rock caves seems to come from another world. Suddenly, an eagle sweeps across the blue sky, and when you look up, you realize that sheep, nearly the color of the rocks, are standing on the ridge line, gazing at this reddish 'Martian surface'. ⭐Precautions 1. This area is not yet developed into a scenic spot, so it is best to go with professionals. 2. Apart from the open areas, there is no signal for most of the time, so if necessary, prepare walkie-talkies. 3. The overall ascent is not significant, but there are many loose stones and gravel, and you need to cross some rivers about 1-2 meters wide, so it's advisable to prepare a pair of anti-slip and waterproof hiking shoes.
