Mount Taimu, the celestial city above the sea

Fujian's famous Mount Taimu is located 45 kilometers south of the urban area of Fuding City in the northeastern part of Fujian Province. Towering majestically along the coast of the East China Sea, Mount Taimu boasts a grand presence and picturesque scenery, integrating natural landscapes of mountains, seas, rivers, waterfalls, and caves with cultural landscapes of temples, forts, and towns. It is renowned for its perilous peaks, bizarre rocks, peculiar caves, mysterious waters, and frequent mists, sharing the title of Fujian's famous mountains with the green cliffs and blue waters of Mount Wuyi. Ancient people called Mount Wuyi the 'Eastern Marvel' and referred to Mount Taimu as the 'celestial city above the sea'. The Mount Taimu scenic area currently comprises six tourist zones: Mount Taimu, Jiuli Stream Waterfall, Lengcheng Ancient Castle, Fuyao Archipelago, Qingchuan Seashore, and Ruiyun She Village. The Mount Taimu tourist zone is the main part of the scenic area, covering an area of 24.8 square kilometers, including the Guoxing Temple, Gourd Cave, One Tile, Xiangshan Temple, Jiuli Facing Heaven, Baiyun Temple, Tianmen Temple, and a total of 360 scenic spots. After getting off the car halfway up the mountain, one can see the overlapping peaks and bizarre rocks. Not far away is the site of Guoxing Temple, next to which stands a seven-tiered octagonal Liaoxin stone pagoda, named the Lengjia Treasure Pagoda. Standing in front of the pagoda and looking to the northwest, one can see a group of stone peaks stretching across the sky, known as the Eighteen Arhats Peaks; looking to the southwest, there are two peaks facing each other, like a couple reunited after a long separation, full of lingering affection, known as the Husband and Wife Peaks. The caves on Mount Taimu, such as Gourd Cave, General Cave, One-Line Sky, Dripping Water Cave, Seven-Star Cave, One Tile, and Rhino Cave, also have their unique characteristics and are fascinating. One Tile, also known as Half Cloud Cave, is formed by a huge rock covering the top of the cliff like a tile, thus creating a cave dwelling, hence the name. Inside the cave is the Rock Cave Hermitage, also known as One Tile Temple, established in the Ming Dynasty. The hermitage houses a vegetarian restaurant and a green snow bud tea room, providing meals, tea tasting, and rest for visitors. To the east is the famous 'One-Line Sky', another marvelous cave, 200 meters long and 60 meters high, with steep walls and a slit at the top. The path inside the cave varies in height and width, winding and twisting. At its narrowest point, it can only accommodate one's foot, and visitors need to sidestep and hold their breath to pass through. Mount Taimu is surrounded by the sea on three sides, where the hidden beauty and wonders of thousands of peaks and rocks reflect the ever-changing vast sea, forming a magnificent 'grand view of mountains and sea'.
