Meihuaping, originally named Rongping, is located at the highest point in the northwest of the Meihuashan Tourist Area in Liupanshui. Its name comes from a legend: a long time ago, wild banyan trees grew on Meiping Mountain, hence the name. In the first year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573), the ancestor of the Huang family, Huang Tingbin, moved from Qidu to Rongping. Because his ancestors loved plum blossoms, they replaced banyan trees with plum trees and planted them extensively. According to legend, one year when the plum blossoms were in full bloom, alternating red and white, petals falling like rain, a man dressed as a Taoist passed by the plum area and shouted, 'Plum blossoms bloom, feng shui prospers.' The clansmen were overjoyed upon hearing this, followed the Taoist's advice, changed 'Rong' to 'Mei', and called it Meiping. Meihuaping is located at an altitude of over 2400 meters on Meihuashan. From the foot of the mountain, you can take a rotating elevator to the top, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the scenic area. From a distance, you can see the surrounding mountains, and up close, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the scattered wooden houses in the mountains.
